Critiques

You've really outdone your self on this one.
Great composition - both the position of the model, the hands, cover and a deck of cards.
The color suits here very nicely.
The body position is fitting, draws attention to the cards - the vail makes the cards look like they are flowing.
The title and theme are also quite interesting.

The only criticism is that I would like to see a better use of the lighting, something more dramatic.

Overall I believe that this is your best work yet. You've managed to create a very dramatic, emotional and artistic image that can take the viewer in an array of directions.

Great work.
Keep it up!

Wow. Brittany. . . I love how you interpreted this. The fact that it's in black and white just makes it feel more. . . 'old'. I don't know why exactly. The way the cloth is draped across your chest it leads the eyes to the tarot cards, and being a tarot reader myself. . . it really makes me focus in on the cards to see what they say or what the picutres are. As well as the fact that there are those elephants to our right, it gives it an even better 'fortune teller- feel to it. It's very indian, and the cloth ties in with it well. ALSO, the spread you have out, the Celtic cross I do believe, is such a classic tarot spread, which really tells people what those cards ARE for and what they mean in a way. Such a beautiful piece hun~

I really like the way the texture of the cloth looks besides the texture of the skin, you can almost feel it. As for the tarot cards and the ellie on the wall It makes her look like a Gyspy. Personally what I like most though is the way your hand looks beside your hair on the top, almos like its about to grab something. The contrast of the light and shade could be greater but its fine that way. I like the look in your face most of all though, a look as unpredictable as fortune.

PS : Elephants mmm... Shakti? You like Yoga, yes?

So very dramatic. =) Your expression is great - mysterious and concerned but detached; your pose is wonderful; I love the way you positioned your hair so dramatically, and the arch of your ribs.

All of it draws attention both from and to the cards and their ominous portents.

Very well done. =)

Wow!! Amazing interpretation, you're absolutely beautiful in this photo! :) Everything in the shot is put together perfectly. Your pose looks very natural and so does your look.

Well done!

great composition.. :)
i love it :D

Very nicely done! It matches the theme very, very well. I like your body position and the choice of a wrap instead of a shirt or tank, because the wrap tends to make the composition flow better toward the cards. The tones and sharpness are excellent. This is definitely one of your best.

Although I do love this picture I think that in terms of black and white it looks a little flat, maybe a bit more contrast to bring a -little- bit more to the tonal range. The only other thing I see that could be changed, is the positioning of the cards, they seem too central in the composition.

There are way more positives than negatives in this photo, I think everyone else has them covered in their comments and critiques!

Hmmm... I'll give more contrast a try and see how it turns out. Thanks so much for the tip.

I really appreciate what you said, and I'm delighted that you liked this photo. :boogie:
